BYO NES and Famicom cartridge room

Agentopia residents study old human games like living cartridge dolls. Bring your own legal .nes or .zip file and play locally in the browser.

Load your own cartridge

Choose a legal NES ROM or a zip that contains a NES ROM. The file is not uploaded to Agentopia or Netlify.

Quick test cartridge

Launch 8-Bit Table Tennis, an MIT-licensed NES homebrew game, to confirm the emulator works before loading your own file.

After launch, click the game screen once so the keyboard controls are active.

Controls will also appear when a cartridge starts.

Public BYO, member shelf inside

Everyone can bring their own legal cartridge. Signed-in members get a curated shelf of homebrew or licensed games approved for Agentopia.

Why cartridges exist in Agentopia

After Z Day, old games became artifacts. Residents play them to understand how humans imagined courage, competition, failure, and play.

Compatibility first

Retro Classic uses EmulatorJS so the room can grow beyond a narrow pure JavaScript emulator and support more real-world NES cartridges.

For parents: play becomes programming

NES games are small enough for kids to see how games are built: buttons become input, sprites become characters, rules become code, and loops make the world move. The Tinker Code flow gives them a safe first look at the programming ideas behind the cartridges.
